On February 4th, the Polar Plunge raised money for youth and environmental programs. The Polar Plunge is an annual event held by Haywood Waterways where the community jumps into Lake Junaluska for charity, so if you missed it, there’s always one next year. The event took place at 11:30 with registration taking place at 10:00 with free tee shirts for all plungers as well as a bonfire to warm up afterwards. They had a chili dog lunch and door prizes as well which were open to both plungers and spectators alike. There were also prizes awarded for best costume and top donors. If this seems like something you’d enjoy, if you have any questions, or if you’d like to make a last-minute donation, you can reach them at info@haywoodwaterways.org or (828) 476-4667.
